Bail sum makes offence seem inconsequential

Dear Editor,
Forty-five thousand ($45,000) bail is a slap on the wrist and makes the offence seem inconsequential and of no significance. It has to be seen as a slap in the face to the magistrate.
Persons charged in the recent unrest were given substantial bail for offences.
The offended community would feel the law has mocked them and belittled their goddess.
