Baker nabbed with illegal firearm

A 24-year-old baker of D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown is now in Police custody after he was found with an unlicensed .38 revolver that contained two matching rounds.
Police reports revealed that on Wednesday about 05:00h, a party of Policemen received information of an alleged robbery under arms at Smyth Street, Georgetown and proceeded to the area to investigate.
According to Police, while in the vicinity of Hadfield and Leopold Streets, Georgetown, lawmen observed a male standing along the western side of Leopold Street.
Upon noticing the Police vehicle approaching, the young man immediately dropped a black object and made several steps towards the southern side of the street.
He was subsequently stopped and a search was conducted in the area where he was first standing and a black .38 revolver containing two matching rounds were found. He was arrested and escorted to Brickdam Police Station where the firearm and ammunition were lodged. He remains in custody pending charges. (G9)
