Baksh returns as head of Blairmont cricket

Shabeer Baksh, a businessman whose résumé includes being a former President of Region Five’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce, former Chairman of Board of Governors of Rosignol Secondary School, and former Assistant Treasurer of the Berbice Cricket Board, was on Thursday (April 26) re-elected President of the Blairmont Centre Cricket Club (BCCC).
Baksh was unchallenged for the post when the club met in the Roy Fredericks Pavilion at the Estate Community Centre.

Additionally, Mohamed Razack, Assistant Field Manager of Blairmont Estate, GuySuCo, was elected Vice President. Razack has served over 15yrs in other non-profitable organizations. Vejai Farhad returned unopposed as Treasurer, and Omesh Prashad will serve as his assistant.
Retired Head Mistress Zolika Ishahack, with 35 years’ experience in education, served in various capacities with woman, children and church, was elected Secretary, and Ameer Rahim will serve as her assistant. Other council members elected are Anil Sukra, Shizad “Greens Massive” Ali, Jerry Karim, Radesha Persaud, Tony Tageram, Mark Singh and Selena Sipchand.
Baksh expressed his enthusiasm at working with the new executives for a bright and better 2018-2019 period, and mentioned the cricket club work will not be ignored, as he aims to make the BCCC “the best in Guyana”.
The president also welcomed the female administrations, and mentioned that since its resuscitation in 2010, it’s the first time the council has seen female members
The executive and council will meet this Thursday at the same venue, to form various committees and plan the working year 2018-2019.
