According to reports, two identifiable men on a scooter robbed the doctor of a sum of cash and some documents at Croal Street, Bourda, before escaping. The robbery occurred about 10:00h.
However, based on the description given to Police, one of the suspects was arrested several hours later at Leopold Street, Georgetown.
He has since admitted having only aided in the escape of the other suspect from the scene.
Nevertheless, the Police said that a search of the suspect’s person revealed an unlicensed silver .38 Special Revolver concealed in his crotch. The weapon is reportedly identical to the one used in the commission of the crime against the doctor earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, during the process of retrieving the weapon, the suspect received an injury to his face when he resisted arrest, after a scuffle between him and the Policeman as he made a bid to escape.
The 40-year-old carpenter of Laing Avenue is assisting with further investigations. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to have the other suspect apprehended.
