Bandit places gun in woman’s mouth while demanding valuables

Sixty-two-year-old Cheryl Barker of Hummingbird Street, Festival City, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was left traumatised after three armed men invaded her property and robbed her in the wee hours of Monday.
The incident occurred at about 01:30h by the three men – one of whom was armed with a handgun and another a cutlass. They reportedly escaped with $160,000, one mobile phone and one 32-inch television set.
Based on reports received, the elderly woman was awakened by the sounds of persons walking in her living room and she started to scream.
At that point, she was confronted by the three men, who held her down on the bed and demanded money and jewellery.
The Police stated that one of the suspects then placed the gun into the victim’s mouth while the others ransacked the apartment.
After finding the cash and other items, they made good their escape. After leaving, the Police were contacted and upon checking the surroundings, it is believed that the men gained entry into the house by removing several louvre panes from a window.
No arrest was made but the area has been dusted for fingerprints.
