Hours after robbing a Police Officer of $240 and a mobile phone, the perpetrator, a resident of Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, was apprehended and is expected to make his court appearance on Monday.
Based on information received, a 23-year-old Police Officer was walking along Hinck Street, Georgetown on Friday when the suspect, who was armed with a pair of shears, pounced and relieved him of the items after which he escaped.
The Policeman, however, did not try to engage the robber but instead, he made a thorough observation of him and promptly informed his supervisors.
Soon after, a team comprised of a Cadet Officer went to the Stabroek Market area and arrested the suspect under the “Clock”.
He was found in possession of the victim’s phone as well as the instrument used in the commissioning of the crime.
