Home News Bandit shoots accomplice during robbery on cell phone store
An alleged bandit is now hospitalised and under Police guard, after he was shot to the chest by his accomplice just after they had robbed a cell phone store on Sheriff Street, Georgetown.
Guyana Times understands that the store had just opened on Saturday when a young man walked in to make enquiries.
The young man then left the store and returned in the company of another man, who was armed with a handgun. The masked men then held the store’s owner at gunpoint and robbed the store.
While escaping, one of the bandits shot at the store’s owner but fortunately for him, the bullet ended up hitting one of the bandits. The injured bandit ran a short distance and then collapsed. He was captured and handed over to the Police, who escorted him to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains a patient.
His accomplice, however, fled the scene, leaving him behind. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the suspect.
