Bandits storm E-Networks’ WCD office

Two armed bandits on Tuesday stormed the E-Networks branch at Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara (WCD) and relieved the cashier and two customers of cash and cellular phones.
Police Commander of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Assistant Police Commissioner Simon McBean when contacted confirmed that the cashier was robbed of $176,000 belonging to the cable company.
However, during the robbery, one customer was relieved of his mobile phone along with $74,000 in cash while another was robbed of $50,000 cash.
After executing the robbery, the two armed men quickly left the premises and entered a waiting silver-grey Toyota Premio motorcar which sped away.
Commander McBean also confirmed that the CCTV system at the business entity is non-functional.
However, based on footage retrieved from other cameras nearby, investigators were able to conclude the colour and registration plates of the vehicle.
The ranks have identified a licence plate number from the footage but at this point, they are unable to confirm whether or not that licence number on the plates is authentic.
He added that the men were not masked and as such, a detailed description was given to the detectives on both suspects. Up to press time, no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
