A suspected thief who has been before the court on numerous occasions was convicted on Monday for receiving stolen items when he appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.

Junior Forrester, known as “Banga” of Lot 156 Patentia Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara, will spend the next 18 months behind bars after he was found guilty of possession of stolen items.

The charge stated that on August 12, 2016, between 06:30h and 08:15h, he broke and entered the dwelling house of David Ambedkar at Lot 47 Area L, Patentia Housing Scheme, WBD, and stole a quantity of jewellery, $80,000 in cash, two wrist watches and an iPhone, amounting to $500,000.

The defendant told the court that he never broke into Ambedkar’s house, but that he bought the watches from a man called “Todd” for $10,000 but he still entered a guilty plea on possession of stolen property.

The Prosecution’s case stated that Forrester was seen leaving Ambedcar’s home on the morning of the robbery.

Acting on this lead the Police carried out a search on his home where the two watches were discovered.
