Bangwandin, Persaud star in Trophy Stall Open

Romel Bangwandin opened 2018 by copping the Trophy Stall Open Title despite a perfect outing by 8-time Guyana Open champion, Avinash Persaud.
The Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) and Trophy Stall teed off the new year with a huge open on Saturday which featured some of Guyana’s top golfers including; Jorge Medina, Guillermo Escarraga, Joaan Deo, Pandit Ravi Persaud, Mike Mangal and others.

In conditions which according to a few of the pros were difficult; Persaud finished with a perfect Gross of 70 on the freshly done greens, stunning his colleagues who credited the reigning champ for living up to his reputation as Guyana’s best.
Honours however, went to Bangwandin who finished with a Gross 88 and a 66 Net; besting second place Pandit Ravi who shot 88 Gross with a Net of 76.
Persaud although he bagged the best gross award for his 70, finished third while Mangal placed fourth after his 81 Gross 68 Net. Nearest to the Pin was snatched up by Haresh Tiwari.
At the conclusion of the event, LGC President Aleem Hussain said he was happy to have staged a tournament for the first time in years, in January following the works carried out by the team over the past few weeks.
The President further hinted at another tournament set to be staged before the end of January. The club also inducted five new members including international and popular fashion designer Sonia Noel.
