Bank of Baroda Golf Tourney to kick off this Saturday at LGC
This Saturday, the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) will be host to the Bank of Baroda Golf Tournament. The format of the event will be medal play 18 holes net scores shotgun start and it will commence at 12:30h (12:30pm).
It will consist of three flights – players with 9 and under handicap, 10-18 handicap, and 19-36 handicap. Up for grabs will be prizes for first, second and third place, best net in each flight, best overall net, best gross, Nearest to the Flag, and Longest Drive. All prizes will include trophies plus vouchers. Thus far, 30 players have registered.
Sharing his take at the handing-over of the cheque was LGC Vice President Paton George who said, “We’re back for the Bank of Baroda Tournament. Everyone is excited as usual; we got a couple weeks off due to the weather, the course is drained and we’re cutting the fairways right now. The course will be in ideal conditions come Saturday. Based on your handicap, your score will be calculated, so we expect a good tournament and still enforce the COVID restrictions as they apply. Bank of Baroda has been a generous sponsor in the past, and also looking into the future, this partnership is important and the golfers recognise it as well.”
The competition will definitely bring the heat as in April 2019, the LGC partnered with the Bank of Baroda to host a tournament, which saw William Walker walking away with top honours. However, with Walker not participating due to unforeseen circumstances, a new champion will be crowned come this Saturday.
Presentation of prizes will be done shortly after the completion of the game; players are advised to contact the club to register. Registration closes at 17:00h (5 pm) on Friday, March 4, 2022. On the day of the tournament, players can uplift their scorecards, etc, and proceed to the allocated tee box and wait for the blast of the horn, which will signal the commencement of the game.
The Bank of Baroda (Guyana) In. was one of the earliest overseas branches of the Bank of Baroda. It was established in Georgetown, Guyana on March 31, 1966, less than a year after the formation of the Bank of Guyana, and prior to Guyana’s independence. In 1999, the overseas branch was converted into a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank of Baroda. In 2012, the Bank established a branch in Mon Repos on the East Coast of Demerara. It now has two branches in Guyana.
All COVID-19 protocols will be in effect.
