Banks DIH Limited and the Guyana Worker’s Union (GWU) on Wednesday signed a new three-year agreement which will see the distillery company’s employees benefiting.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Chief Labour Officer, Charles Ogle in the boardroom of the Labour Ministry by the Chairman/Managing Director of Banks FIH, Clifford Reis along with Human Resources Director, Andrew Carto.
The agreement includes increase in condition of employment allowances, meals, travel and long service recognition allowances.
Employees will now have a seven per cent increase for the first year of the contract, which is expected to increase by four and two per cent for the subsequent years.
Signatories for the GWU included General President Morris Witter, General Secretary Pancham Singh and Senior Vice President Quincy Bailey.
The memorandum will cover the period starting October 1, 2017 to September 30 of 2020.
