Banks DIH supports Persaud ahead of Suriname Golf Open

Eight-time Guyana Open men’s Golf champion Avinash Persaud has secured from Banks DIH Limited sponsorship to compete in the Suriname Invitational Golf Tournament billed for October 6-7 (next weekend) at the Paramaribo Golf Club.

Chairman and Managing Director of Banks DIH Limited, Mr. Clifford Reis, presented Persaud with the sponsorship cheque during a simple ceremony at Thirst Park on Wednesday.
Himself an ardent golfer, Reis said Banks DIH Limited was extremely delighted to be sponsoring the reigning Guyana Open champion, to enable his participation at the Suriname tournament which is expected to attract international competitors.
Persaud will join approximately 19 local golfers who will be competing in the Suriname tournament.
“We wish Avinash every success in Suriname. I am confident that the exposure will assist in his future development,” Reis said.
Persaud, who has held the Guyana Open title for four consecutive years, also expressed confidence ahead of the tournament.
“My goal is to win the Best Gross at the event. I would like to thank Banks DIH Limited for sponsoring my participation in Suriname,” he declared.
Persaud, who first won the Guyana Open when he was 16 years old in 2006, has said he would be using this Suriname tournament to sharpen his game for the prestigious Guyana Open tournament, billed for November 4-5 at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.
