Pursuant to the recent collaboration between the two regional entities, both of which are duly affiliated
to the international governing body, World Archery Federation and World Archery Americas, World
Archery Barbados made the necessary arrangements to provide Archery Guyana with the assistance of
four coaches, intended to aid in the further development of local Archers.
Ronald Field, Thomas Field, Rebecca Wiltshire and Dwayne Grovesnor arrived on Friday to conduct
coaching/training sessions with Archery Guyana this weekend.
President Richard Morris of World Archery Barbados noted that “As we seek to strengthen relations
between Federations, WAB takes this opportunity to wish Archery Guyana the best of luck with the
training session, and looks forward to receiving some positive feedback from this, and future
collaborations.”
President of Archery Guyana, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, expressed delight to have the Coaches
here in Guyana as she welcomed them to Guyana. She noted that Dwayne Grovesnor also happens
to be a Guyanese living in Barbados and she is happy to have him back home to help his country.
Persaud-McKinnon hope that in the near future our Guyanese Archers can travel regionally and
internationally to participate in competitions.
Another successful collaboration was made with the Department of Tourism, Ministry of Business and
Archery Guyana. It is envisioned that Guyana can host major regional competitions which is an area which will tremendously boost Guyana’s visibility and encourage sports tourism. Present also to greet the Coaches was Lizanne London, the Tourism Development Officer (Public Relations) of the Ministry of
Business – Department of Tourism who presented the Coaches with a welcome bag.
Coaching sessions will be both Indoor starting this evening at the National Gymnasium from 17:00h to
20:00h and Outdoor Archery at the Carifesta Sports Complex on Sunday from 14:30h to 15:30h.
