Barbados dominate 2018 CASA

Barbados emerged champs of the 2018 CASA tourney, which ended over the weekend, edging a spirited Guyana team after a week-long war at the Ligaunea Club in Kingston, Jamaica.
The Guyana ladies went down 4-1 while the males suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Barbados, who outplayed the Guyanese, who were forced to settle for the runners-up spoils of the silver medal.
Chemar Burnham of Barbados lost to Guyanese Daniel Islam in three straight sets 7-11, 5-11, 5-11 while Rithew Saywack, Alex Cheeks and individual gold medallist Michael Alphonso all failed in the matches.
In the ladies battle, Meagan Best, the first squash player from the Caribbean to win a US Junior Open squash championship title, thumped Guyanese Madison Fernandes in three straights sets as the 16-year-old sensation racked up 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 games.
Kirsten Gomes lost to Jada Smith-Padmore 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 11-2, while Amanda Haywood defeated Guyana Captain Rebecca Low 11-3, 11-2, 11-4. The in-form silver medallist in the individual category, Abosaide Cadogan lost to Sumiraa Suleman 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, 10-12, 11-8.
