Barber chopped to head, arm by drunken man

A 29-year-old barber of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice has been chopped to his head and arm by a drunken man.
Reports are that the incident occurred at around 18:30h on Tuesday at Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Police have said the barber was in a hammock at a mining camp when the suspect approached him and an argument ensued. The suspect then armed himself with a cutlass and, upon seeing this, the barber ran away.
However, the suspect chased and caught him, and dealt him a chop to his head and right arm before fleeing the scene.
Public-spirited persons then escorted the barber to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where he arrived on Wednesday afternoon and was admitted a patient. As a result of his injuries, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical attention.
The suspect has since evaded arrest. An investigation has been launched.
