Bartica Easter Regatta: Football tournament to commence today

The Bartica Easter Regatta Football Tournament will kick off today at the Bartica Community Centre Ground. The fixtures have been drawn, and nine clubs are ready to play. Competition between four female teams will also make up the Regatta Week.

Today’s matches will commence from 17:00h with Agatash United duking it out with AK Galaxy. At 19:00h, Wolves United will take on Potaro Strikers, and at 21:00h, Lazio will encounter Beacon.
On Tuesday, two matches will be played at 19:00h and 21:00h respectively. The first game involves Rivers’ View and Rising Stars, while the second game involves Mil Ballers battling the winner of match one.
On Wednesday, the semifinals for the ladies will kick off at 19:00h and 21:00h, and on Thursday, the males would battle at the same time. In the first match, winner #2 will take on winner #3, while in the second game, winner #4 and winner #5 will do battle.
On Saturday April 16, 2022, there will be a total of three matches played; namely: the third-place playoff at 17:00h, while the grand finale for the female and male matches will go down at 19:00h and 21:00h.
Sharing his sentiments on the action set to take place in the tournament, Bartica Football Association President Alden Marslowe has said, “The Bartica Easter Regatta is engrained in the fabric of our community, and so, after being down for the past two years, we are all excited to have it return this year. Of course, football is a big part of the regatta Week of activities. it is regrettable that, this year, we couldn’t invite teams from outside of our jurisdiction to participate. However, nine local clubs are ready to take to the field, along with four female teams.”
The winner of the male tournament will cart off one ounce of raw gold while second and third placers would pocket $200,000 and $100,000 respectively. For the females, the winner will pocket $50,000, while the runner-up will collect $30,000. All prizes will be inclusive of trophies and incentives.
