In a heated contest at the Bartica Community Centre Ground, the Bartica Football Association (FA) team overcame their counterparts from the West Demerara FA on Saturday, to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Boys’ Under-13 ATC Trophy Challenge.
The consistency of Michael Joseph paid dividends for the Bartica team, when he struck one home in the 14th minute of the match. Joseph has now scored in three out of four matches in the tournament.
In their quest to equalise the score, the West Demerara boys went hard at the Bartica defence, only to be met by a series of stern counterattacks. The afternoon’s encounter ended with West Dem conceding an own goal in the 65th minute, to hand Bartica a 2-0 victory.
Having completed their group matches, Bartica now sit on nine points, from three wins and one loss. They now await results from other weekend matches across the country that will determine who they will meet in the semi-finals.
