Three men from Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), who were arrested and charged for an alleged break and enter and larceny committed on Jianmei Qiu, were on Wednesday before the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday May 21, where one received an 18 month sentence while two were remanded to prison.
Paul McKenzie and Carlton Simmons pleaded not guilty, and were remanded to prison until July 2, 2025, while Mario Singh pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment. 
Thirty-four-year-old Paul McKenzie, unemployed, of Lot 4 New Housing Scheme, Bartica, Essequibo River; Mario Singh, 37, unemployed, of Lot 119 West Indian Housing Scheme, Bartica Essequibo River, and Carlton Simmons, a 44-year-old miner of Agatash Village, Bartica, Essequibo River, were charged for break and enter and larceny.
