Police ranks in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) swooped down on the home of a 59-year-old woman, where a large quantity of cocaine and marijuana was unearthed.
Reports are at about 01:00h on Saturday morning, ranks acting on information, raided the house located at the Bartica Old Housing Scheme.
During the search, 2555 grams of cannabis and 1451 grams of cocaine – which were concealed in a box and a bucket – were found under a bed in her bedroom.
According to Police reports, the housewife was arrested and taken to the Bartica Police Station. It was alleged that she later informed the officers that someone had given her the drugs for safe keeping.
An investigation has been launched into the matter.
