Smalta Girls U-11 Football Tournament…
The action intensifies in the Smalta Under-11 Girls Football Tournament, which enters its semifinal stage today at the Ministry of Education Ground.
Confidence will be high as these young ladies highlight the day with both semis, one of which involves defending champions South Ruimveldt taking on the resolute North Georgetown team for a spot in the final round. South, who have obviously performed well this season, are just two wins from retaining the crown. They brushed aside St Angela’s 2–nil in the final in 2017 to capture the championship. The other semi, which will be run simultaneously, would involve a replay of the 2017 third place playoff between West Ruimveldt and St Pius. However, one of these two sides would have qualified for a shot at the title when the regulation time whistle sounds. On the cards are other placement fixtures, which include Genesis Primary going head-to-head with St Stephen’s Primary, and Tucville clashing with Enterprise in the battle for fifth to eighth places. To get proceedings started, St Margaret’s will oppose Smith’s Memorial in a battle for ninth place at 13:30hrs. The semis are scheduled to kick off at 15:00 hrs.
