Chairman of Selectors, Leslie Solomon says that the squad will be encamped shortly, and will be properly instructed to compete in the inter county competition. He is confident that the players who are eventually selected in the final 14 to represent the county, will be the best of the lot, who will go on to represent the county well. Cricket in Berbice will continue to flourish, despite the hiccups we now face with the legal actions filed by non-playing Clubs.
The lads, Solomon said, will also benefit from classroom training during their period of encampment. He added that this group of players comprise mainly of newcomers to the inter county scene, and much work will have to be done to ensure they are brought up to the required level. These players were recently engaged in the Berbice Cricket Board’s under 15 inter zone competition, and many notable performances were recorded. He is appealing to the parents of the lads selected, to encourage and guide them, since the home he said, plays an integral part in their development.
All players are required to report to the Jai Hind Cricket Club Ground, Albion at 16:00h on Wednesday January 10 for briefing and commencement of training.
