The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Banks Beer 2-Day cricket matches that were slated for this weekend have been postponed to the following weekend, due to the Banks DIH shareholders’ meeting.
Two semifinal clashes were set for this weekend: Albion and Tucber Park were set to meet at Albion, while Young Warriors were slated to host Rose Hall Town.
On a BCB post yesterday, information was publicised that the sponsor has requested that the matches be postponed due to the shareholders’ meeting this weekend in New Amsterdam.
With Guyana Jaguars players currently on break, this weekend’s matches were expected to feature some of the biggest names, with
Albion having the services of Devendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie and Jonathan Foo, among others; while Tucber Park would have had the services of Romario Shepherd and Nial Smith, being the big names that were prepared to visit Albion.
And if the matches were bowled off this weekend, Rose Hall Town would have had the services of Kevin Sinclair, the Guyana Jaguars prodigy and West Indies Emerging Player; and Young Warriors would have had West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer, who was also available for this weekend’s clash.
With the semifinals set to be played the following weekend, on February 8-9, most of these star players would be unavailable, engaged in duty for the Guyana Jaguars or West Indies.
Reflecting on the third-round fixtures: Albion, which played to a draw against Rose Hall Town, lost first innings points.
Young Warriors and Tucber Park gained first innings points in their respective matches played against West Berbice and Blairmont.
