In a press release that reached this publication, Somwaru urges all cricketers in the Ancient County, to work hard at improving their game and to aspire to follow in the footsteps of the great cricketers who have represented Berbice well over the years. “I am especially proud of our Under-17 team and the level of maturity and skill they brought to the competition.
I will continue to work hard to ensure that the Berbice Cricket Board prepare and nurture our youths so that they can be prepared for challenges ahead. Alex Algoo has done all Berbicians proud, being adjudged ‘Player of the Competition’. His discipline in the sport is a representation of what the new BCB can produce,” Somwaru said.
Somwaru is pleased that under his administration, the team has shown that they are capable of competing at the highest level. The team was well prepared and groomed, and the results give testimony of this the Board President said.
He also noted that the BCB will continue to work as a unit to ensure that cricket in the county returns to what it used to be in the past.
