The President, executives and member clubs of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) have said they would like to extend congratulations to the Berbicians selected to represent Guyana in the upcoming West Indies 50-Over Regional Tournament.
The Board is very proud of Anthony Bramble, Gudakesh Motie, Veerasammy Permaul, Romario Shepherd and Clinton Pestano, and is confident that they would not only keep the flag of the Ancient County flying, but would be perfect ambassadors of the rich Berbician cricketing legacy.
Over the last eighty years, the county has had a rich history of discipline, hard work, and performance from players that showed they belonged in the game. The BCB wishes Shimron Hetmyer and Devendra Bishoo all success as they represent the West Indies in India during the Test Series.
Bishoo, with over 100 Test wickets, has proven to be a match winner on numerous occasions; while young Hetmyer is well on the way to becoming a legend in his own right. The BCB stands behind each of its players, and wishes them great success.
The BCB has also expresses great concern that the highly talented Jonathan Foo seems to have fallen off the radar of the Guyana selectors. Foo is a natural talent who deserves a chance to showcase his ability, the BCB has said.
He continues to perform well, and a talent such as his should not be neglected, but encouraged. The BCB is fully aware that the Guyana Team was selected before the Franchise League, and it is a common fact that players knew in advance that they were selected.
The BCB has said it wishes to encourage the Selection Committee to be guided by fairness, honesty, and the best interest of Guyana’s Cricket.
