Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd are the two Guyanese selected for the upcoming West Indies squads to play Ireland and England in a white-ball home series.
Motie was selected for the One-Day International (ODI) while Shepherd was selected for both the ODI and T20 International series.
In a congratulatory statement from the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), it was noted that these players would be great ambassadors of the Ancient County in the upcoming series.
“On behalf of the President and executives of the Berbice Cricket Board, I would like to congratulate Berbice’s very own Romario Shepherd and Gudakesh Motie on their selection on the West Indies team for the upcoming series vs Ireland. We are very proud of these guys and we are confident that they would be great ambassadors of the Ancient County brand on and off the cricket field. Congrats guys and may God bless both of you,” the statement read.
The West Indies will start the new year at Sabina Park, Jamaica as they host Ireland in the three-match CG Insurance ODI series and a one-off CG Insurance T20I from January 8 to January 16. The two-time world champions will then travel to Barbados to face England in five T20Is at Kensington Oval from January 22 to January 30.
The CG Insurance ODI series between West Indies and Ireland will form part of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, in which the top seven teams can secure automatic qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
