BCB first mini cricket academy to commence on Saturday in West Berbice
The aggressive developmental programme of the Berbice Cricket Board would continue this weekend with the hosting of the first of four mini cricket academies across the county.
The West Berbice Cricket Association, under the leadership of David Black, would host the first mini academy on Saturday July 23.
BCB President Hilbert Foster has said the academy is a continuation of the board’s ambitious coaching programme, which seeks to ensure that every cricketing talent in the ancient county is discovered and given the chance to develop.
The board would also be hosting the academy in New Amsterdam/Canje at the Rose Hall Canje Ground; on the Lower Corentyne at the Area H Ground, and in the Upper Corentyne Sub-Association at the Skeldon Ground. Special emphasis would be placed on improving the players’ techniques in batting, bowling and wicket-keeping.
Foster also disclosed that the BCB under his leadership would be very firm with players who refuse to attend developmental programmes to which they are invited. Stating that the BCB is investing heavily in the development of players, Foster has said it is only fair that players take advantage of the opportunities; and, as such, players who bluntly refuse to attend would not be considered for selection to any Berbice team in the future.
Coach Travis Hardcourt would head the panel of coaches, and the following players are asked to report to the Fort Wellington Secondary School at 8:30am for the session, which would go on to 4:00pm. Lunch would be provided for all participants.
The players invited are: Joel Bascom, Jarvel Blackman, Ezekiel Blackman, Sheldon McPherson, Brandon Chance, Omani Alder, Carlston Sam, Aquanda Booker, Rawle Johnson, Shawn Ross, Dekentie Carmichael, Mario Apollo, Delray Morris, Levi Kishun, Neville David, Omari Arthur, Shelton Ramsay, Tulsieram Ramcharran, Omar Saul, Steffon Prince, Tyrone Prince, Tiea Isaacs, Tamara George, Renata Liverpool, Brandon Isaacs, Ashley Mangra, Nathaniel Lynch, Kummassy Mentore, Chan Cho, Darius Joseph, Tienacia Solomon, Cornel Archibald, Randy Dindial, Jaylen Campbell, Kemar Joseph, Winston Hartman, Michael Collis, Collis Harcourt, Christopher Baldeo, Simon Anandram, Vinash Boodhoo, Lakeraj Hemraj, Saife Satar, Aditya Ramgopaul, Fawaad Badulla, Ryan Ramsamy, Marlon Albert, and Christopher Ogle.
