BCB honours outstanding officials, grounds staff, sponsors and media personnel

“The success of Berbice Cricket over the last 17 months would not have been possible without the support of countless individuals who worked hard to make a positive difference.
“Our success is a collective effort, as no single person can claim sole praise; all of you deserve the highest praise. And as President of Guyana’s most dynamic cricket board, it is with great pride and honour that we recognise your contributions.
“Since I became president of this board, I have always stated that every hero, every sponsor and friend of Berbice would be made to feel special, as without you Berbice Cricket would be dead”.
Those were the sentiments shared by BCB president, Hilbert Foster, as the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) honoured more than 65 persons and companies for their outstanding contributions to Berbice Cricket during the period January 2018 to June 2019.
Twenty-three persons each received a Presidential Certificate of Excellence from Foster, along with a Medal of Excellence. Those honoured were Orvin Mangru, Neil Rudder, Dr. Cecil Beharry, Angela Haniff, Sydney Jackman, Simon Naidu, Dennis D’Andrade, Vemen Walter, Ruthel Henry, Sylvia Autar, Lakeram Latchman, Leslie Solomon, Andre Percival, Delbert Hicks, Winston Smith, Mark Papannah, Tremayne Smartt, Roger Mc Donald, Anil Beharry, Qualis Winter, Moses and Jerome Inderdat, Malcolm Peters, Teka Pooran and David Black.
Foster said Pooran, Mc Donald and the Inderdats were honoured for their assistance at the Albion Ground, while Vemen Walter and Orvin Mangru were recognised for their cooperation as executives of the Albion Community Centre Cricket Club and GuySuCo.
Special mention was made of Ruthel Henry, the Cleaner/Office Assistant at the Berbice Cricket Board’s offices, who has been a faithful worker for Berbice Cricket for over a decade; and of 19-year-old Public Relations Officer Simon Naidu, who Foster noted has spearheaded a very informative public relations campaign for the Berbice Cricket Board, including Facebook, television programmes and releases in the print and electronic media. Naidu, has over the last year, also spearheaded the physical organisation of every cricket final match and important Berbice Cricket Board events.
The Berbice Cricket Board also recognised the outstanding support it has received via wide spread media coverage from various media houses. Those honoured therefor were NCN Radio and Television, DTV-8, LRTVS CH10, TVG, Guyana Times, Guyana Chronicle, Stabroek News, Kaieteur News and News Room.
There was a long list of sponsors who were recognised for their contribution to the development of Berbice Cricket. Among them were Brian Ramphal, Dr. Tulsi Dyal Singh, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Da Silva’s Motor Spares, Mike’s Pharmacy, New York Business Group, Magic Moments (Sueria Manufacturing), Elizabeth Styles, Lindon Lewis, ANSA McAL, Pepsi, Mohamed Raffik, Nand Persaud & Co. Ltd, RHTY&SC, MS, GNNL, GuySuCo, Vickram Suebarran, and Albion Community Centre Cricket Club.
The president reassured all the awardees that the Berbice Cricket Board would always put cricket first, and would work unselfishly to lift the game in the Ancient County even higher.
