“The Story of Jonah—A Lesson in Courage and Mercy”, will be shown in the afternoon.
Each day the programme commences at 09:20h, and admission is free.
Elder Nobrega, during an interview with <<Guyana Times>>, said the convention is an annual event held across the world with the same theme. He noted that the theme “Be courageous” is an appropriate one, and comes at a time when Guyana needs the courage to fight the societal ills.
“It’s a very appropriate theme, because we live in a world where there are so many distressing problems; problems of all sorts that people are encountering and have to cope with. So the convention programme is designed to help those attending to develop this godly quality of courage, so that they can cope with the many distressing situations and problems of today’s world. It will also give them a hope for the future,” he said. Dorris said they would have interpreters speaking Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish, along with sign language for those with hearing disabilities.
He stressed that the two highlights of the convention would occur on Sunday in the form of the public talk and feature film. He noted that there would be time for persons to network and seek clarity on the issues bothering them. Additionally, he said, the convention would seek to engage youths through the use of various technological platforms.
