Beaton and Waddell to represent Guyana at Costa Rica Future Series

Guyana’s Nkosi Beaton and Frank Waddell will test their skills against international opposition at the Costa Rica Future Series 2026 in San José.
The Guyanese players are entered in the men’s singles competition and will join forces in the men’s doubles, giving the country representation in two categories.
The main draw is scheduled to run from September 9 to 13 at the Gimnasio Nacional Eddy Cortés. Qualification matches began on September 8.
The tournament is sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Pan Am Confederation and forms part of the international Future Series circuit. The official prospectus states that athletes from four continents are expected to compete in this year’s edition.
Beaton and Waddell will face separate challenges in the singles draw before combining their strengths in doubles. Their participation will provide valuable international exposure as they compete against players with different styles and levels of experience.
The men’s singles main draw can accommodate as many as 48 direct entries and 16 qualifiers, while the men’s doubles competition has space for 24 direct-entry pairs and eight qualifying teams.
Matches will be contested over the best of three games, with each game played to 21 points. The semifinals are scheduled for September 12, followed by the finals and presentation ceremonies on September 13.
The Guyana Badminton Association has extended best wishes to both players ahead of their campaign and encouraged them to give their best on court.
