Belle Vue tame Tigers in series opener

Belle Vue Sports Club (BVSC) of the West Bank of Demerarasecured a convincing five-wicket victory over Tiger Sports Club in their opening tour match of Trinidad and Tobago in Rio Claro on Sunday.
The match scheduled for 50 overs a side was reduced to 30 due to a late start at the Tiger Sports Club. The hosts won the toss and batted first but were reduced to 89 which turned out to be insufficient.
The bowlers of the Guyanese club proved too much for Tiger Sports batsmen and they were bowled out at the end of the 18th over at which point the visitors were in the drivers’ seat to take first blood in the five match tour.
Imran Khan was the only batsman with the fighting power and hit a six and two fours in the Tigers’ top score of 31 while

MustafaaAzimullahripped through the batting with 3 for 12 off 5 overs and got support from Timothy Andrews with 3 for 14 off 4 overs.
Chasing 90 runs form 30 overs for victory BVSC reached their target in 19 overs, with five wickets and 11 overs in the bag. KerwinBennette top scored with 24 (2 x 4) and Colin Boucher blasted 19 (2 x 6).
All of the Tiger Sports Club bowlers were punished but Omar Daniel with 2 for 20 off 4 overs, and DestrelleNeaves 2 for 14 off 4 overs were among the wickets.
Azimullah was adjudged Man of the Match for his fine spell of bowling.
The teams will meet again today at the same venue but in a T20 match beginning at 17:00h.
Belle Vue Sports Club are on their first tour after the club’s resuscitation following a prolonged absence and will be looking for further success before the series wraps up.
