Bent Street man charged with assaulting brother granted bail

Linden Wilson

A Bent Street resident appeared in court on Friday, charged with allegedly assaulting his brother. Linden Wilson, 55, of Lot 40, Bent Street, Werk-En-Rust, Georgetown, was arraigned before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court heard that the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 23, at the Alberttown Police Station when Wilson allegedly assaulted his sibling, Carlton Wilson, with the intent to cause him actual bodily harm. Representing the accused, Wilson’s attorney applied for bail, highlighting that his client has no prior criminal record and is not considered a flight risk. The lawyer also noted that the alleged incident involved a family dispute between brothers over the cleaning of a step, which later turned into a scuffle. He, however, expressed surprise that only his client was charged. He requested that Wilson be released on reasonable bail conditions. The prosecution did not raise any objections to the bail application. After considering submissions, Magistrate McGusty granted bail to Linden in the sum of $20,000 and imposed a bond to keep the peace while the matter proceeds through the court. The case was adjourned to January 30, 2026, for continuation.
