Berbice businesses continue to rally for the success of Guyana Cup
Berbice is often considered as the ancient county that thrives on the closeness of its communities. Many have expressed their utter passion for horseracing, and most of the active racing tracks are in the Berbice area.
From a dream that was born over 14 years ago to now hosting the biggest horseracing event in the Caribbean, Nasrudeen “Junior” Mohamed is dedicated to being the driving force behind this mega-event. With first-hand experience as a trainer and event promoter, especially since he was part of the evolution of The Guyana Cup, his father’s legacy was cast in stone and handed down, so all horse owners and stables could work together to present world class horseracing.
As residents of the Berbice area, numerous business owners have shown their support for the races carded for August 14th. Creating employment for over 500 and generating income for all the concessions present is paramount to the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Committee.
Poonai Pharmacy, Impressive Signs and Associated Construction Services have all maintained their place as a household name in the Berbice area. They continue to show financial support for the upliftment of sport and by extension their home track.
Only a few weeks away from the biggest horse racing event in the Caribbean, the JJTRC has already started the much-anticipated Guyana Cup Road Show, and it rolled into Stabroek Market car park on Friday 21st July and is now set to reach Linden today, Friday July 29, for a presentation at the Linden Georgetown-Bus Park.
On Sunday 14th August, at the Rising Sun Turf Club, the competition will be stiff, with over 100 horses set to enter the 8 races for over $30 million in cash prizes.
Get there before noon to avoid the rush, and remember: indoor parking is available for over 1,000 cars.
