Berbice businessman killed after pickup turns turtle

Popular businessman Saheed Hamid of Rose Hall Town was this morning killed after the vehicle he was driving along the Jackson Creek Public Road at Crabwood Creek on the Corentyne Coast in East Berbice turned turtle and ended up in a trench.
Police have said that at about 8:10h, a motor pickup, bearing registration number PKK 915 and being driven by the 31-year-old Hamid, was proceeding along the roadway at a fast rate of speed when it reportedly became uncontrollable and toppled several times before ending up in a trench.
Hamid was extracted from the wreckage and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital in an unconscious state, where he was pronounced dead.
Guyana Times understands that the vehicle belongs to Wazir Deochand of Crabwood Creek Corentyne, Berbice, but Hamid was test driving it at the time because he had expressed interest in purchasing same.
An investigation is underway.
