Berbice cyclists to battle in Flying Ace/Ashana’s Beer Garden 30-miler

The top riders across the Ancient County of Berbice will battle among themselves for supremacy on Sunday, August 1 from 13:00h.
This highly-anticipated race will pedal off at Number Two Village at Ashana’s Beer Garden and proceed to the University of Guyana Tain Campus before returning to the point of origin for the finish.
Flying Ace Cycling Coach and organiser Randolph Roberts confirmed that this race would be open to all Berbice riders and the open and masters category will be on show in the 30-mile high-pace race. Prizes will be awarded to the first four finishers and two veterans. Six sprint prizes will be up for grabs.
Berbice has produced some top cyclists over the years, and currently, the senior National champion, Romello Crawford is a proud cycling product of the ancient county. The in-form Mario Washington, who is currently among the best junior riders in Guyana, will be on show, riding for Flying Ace Cycling Club.
We Stand United rider Andrew Hicks, David Hicks, and Andre “Padlock” Green are also expected to turn out and battle for bragging rights. Senior statesman Gary Benjamin ,who was among the top three veterans in the last cycling event on the West Side, is expected to dominate his category. Sybourne Fernandes is also expected to battle for the top spot in the masters category.
With the Caribbean cycling championships looming, the Berbice big guns will be encouraged to continue preparations. The COVID-19 Task Force has continued to support the safe hosting of cycling while the Guyana Police Force is expected to assist on Sunday.
