Two men, a 25-year-old and a 30-year-old, have been admitted as patients at the New Amsterdam Hospital following a brawl at Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice on Wednesday evening.
Based on reports received, on Wednesday, at about 19:45h, the two labourers were at a function when a heated argument broke out between them. This eventually led to a scuffle, and the Police have said that the 30-year-old broke a bottle and dealt the 25-year-old several stabs about his body.
In retaliation, the injured man armed himself with a cutlass and chopped the other man to his hand.
They were both taken to the Port Mourant Hospital, where they were treated and referred to the New Amsterdam Hospital for further attention. They both are in a stable condition at that institution.
The matter was reported to the Police, and an investigation has been launched.
