The Police are on the hunt for three armed men who attacked and robbed a No 55 Village, Corentyne, Berbice family of several pieces of gold jewellery on Saturday evening. The robbery took place at about 23:00h.
The men – two of whom were armed with handguns and one with a cutlass and who were all wearing masks – carted off with one eight-and-a-half pennyweight gold chain with a pendant, “Britney”; one gold cricket bangle with name the “Britney” and three gold bangles.
Police investigation revealed that on the date and time in question, the 47-year-old and 16-year-old females were in front of their yard sitting with their relatives and two neighbours, barbequing, when they were confronted by the armed men.
One of the suspects, according to the Police, pointed a cutlass at the 16-year-old and instructed her not to move as he relieved her of the above-mentioned articles.
On the other hand, another suspect held the 47-year-old woman at gunpoint and also took her belongings. The third suspect was reportedly on the lookout.
The ordeal reportedly lasted for about ten minutes. Soon after committing the robbery, the suspects made good their escape on foot. The Police were immediately summoned and an investigation was launched.
The area was searched but none of the suspects were seen. Investigations are ongoing.
