Berbice farmer busted with ganja in yard

A farmer of Bloomfield Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), was on Saturday arrested after he was busted with a quantity of marijuana in his yard.

Police stated that during an operation, they swooped down on the home of the 34-year-old farmer to search for narcotics, arms, ammunitions, stolen articles and wanted persons.
During the raid, a Police rank went into the yard and made checks and a white and black bulky plastic was found about 30 feet away from the house.
Upon checking, a quantity of marijuana was unearthed. The farmer was cautioned and told of the offence but he did not claim ownership.
He along with the marijuana were escorted to the Whim Police Station where he was placed into custody. The drug was weighed in his presence and amounted to 232 grams. An investigation has been launched.
Just recently Delon Rose, 28, was handed a two-year jail sentence after he was found trafficking 1048 grams (two pounds) of marijuana.
Reports are in January 2021; Police ranks stopped a minibus and conducted a search on its passengers and their personal belongings.
The vehicle was en route to Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice). During the search on the vehicle, Police unearthed 30 bags containing cannabis in a five-gallon bucket. Rose admitted to owning the drug, and was arrested and charged.
