Chirulall Mankarran, also called Tony, of Bush Lot Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was on Wednesday stabbed during a scuffle with a man with whom he had had an old grievance.
Police have said that on Wednesday at about 15:30h, the 30-year-old Mankarran had gone to a Chinese restaurant to make a purchase, and
while there, was confronted by the 22-year-old suspect, with whom he had had a previous misunderstanding.
The suspect was reportedly imbibing in the same restaurant, and upon seeing Mankarran, armed himself with a glass bottle and confronted him. In the ensuing scuffle, the suspect broke the bottle and dealt Mankarran a blow to the left hip.
Mankarran reported the matter at the Whim Police Station, and the suspect was arrested while the victim was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he was treated before being referred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Mankarran has been admitted a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital, while the suspect is expected to make his court appearance today.
