A teenager took his own life on Wednesday last following a row with his mother at their Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice home.
Dead is Khemraj Rohanlall, 16, of Lot 69 Grant 2229, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne. The teen recently completed training at the Skeldon Sugar Estate and was due to start full-time work at the estate this week.
Reports are on the day in question, the teenager and his mother had an argument after he refused to run some errands. He was reportedly told to collect “baby chicks” and to fetch a few bags of saw dust.
During the argument, he reportedly left the house in haste and told his mother to take care of his sister.
After some time elapsed and he did not return, the aggrieved mother explained what transpired to her husband and after realising something was amiss, he went in search of his son and found him lying at the back of the house panting for breath.
He admitted to consuming a poisonous substance and was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital where he died while receiving medical attention.
The teenager leaves to mourn his parents and two siblings.
