Berbice whip Essequibo by 5 wickets

Another complete performance by Berbice helped set up a 5-wicket win over a hapless Essequibo in Thursday’s GCB/Hand-in-Hand U-19 Inter-County 50-Over Tournament played at Tuschen.
It was another low-scoring, poor batting outing from Essequibo, who again were as sloppy as in a previous game, falling for 59 all out, with top-scorer vice-skipper Kurt Lovell run out for 12.

The bowling, which has been spot on thus far, was led by the all-round leader Kevlon Anderson, who bagged 5 wickets, and Keith Simpson, who supported with 3 scalps in a clinical effort.

The chase was a simple one for the in-form Berbicians, who sped to 60-5 with the in-form openers Alex Algoo (13), Kevin Sinclair (14) and Anderson (15) leading the way.
Spinner Sherlan Anthony and Joel Fortune grabbed two wickets in a decent effort.

Meanwhile the persistent weather in town washed out action at Everest between Demerara and the U-17 XI.
