Berbice youth busted with ganja during Police operation

A 20-year-old Rose Hall Town, Corentyne man was on Thursday busted with a quantity of cannabis during a cordon and search exercise in the said village.
Based on reports received, a team of Police ranks established a roadblock with the aim of searching for narcotics, wanted persons and stolen items, arms and ammunition.
However, during the operation, the young unemployed youth was stopped and searched during which a quantity of ganja was found on his person. He was cautioned, told of the offence and taken to the Whim Police Station where the ganja was weighed and amounted to 21.5 grams.
He has since given a written statement claiming ownership of cannabis. He was arrested pending charges.
Just over a week ago two men who were implicated in several armed robberies were among five persons arrested during cordon and search operations in several areas in Georgetown.
The areas targeted were Alberttown, Kitty, A, D and C Fields Sophia, Plum Park, Guyhoc Park, East Front Road, Back Circle, Albouystown, Leopold Street, Stabroek Market, Rasville and Broad Street, Charlestown.
During the operations, several drug blocks, houses, motor vehicles and persons were searched.
The operation unearthed a quantity of cannabis, three motorcycles (CB1, Honda Wave and a 150 Suzuki), one pedal cycle and a quantity of tobacco leaves (flonto).
