Bermuda’s Emmerson Carrington appointed to ICC Panel of Development Umpires
Emmerson Carrington of Bermuda was this week selected to the International Panel of ICC Development Umpires, the Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] has confirmed.
The ICC Associates and Affiliates Umpire Panel is a panel of international cricket umpires chosen by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Established in 2005, its members are drawn primarily (though not exclusively) from the organisation’s associate and affiliate members (rather than its full members). It stands alongside and is intended to offer a career path into, the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires.
Umpires on the panel are not restricted to matches between associate and affiliate teams and have officiated at One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International level.
In confirming Carrington’s appointment, President of the BCB Lloyd Smith praised the Bermudan policeman.
“On behalf of the BCB, I am pleased to congratulate Mr Emmerson Carrington who has been selected to the International Panel of ICC Development Umpires,” Smith said.
“The International Panel of ICC Development Umpires is intended to offer a career path into the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires. Emmerson’s selection reflects his long-standing experience as both a local and international official. I am confident Emmerson will represent Bermuda well on this panel and hope that this appointment will open doors for more of our local umpires.”
President of the Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association [BCUA] Steven Douglas also offered his congratulations to Carrington, who is the second umpire from Bermuda to have been appointed to the panel.
“We wish him well in his future assignments,” Douglas said. (Sportsmax)
