Best v Best 4-day match: Bonner hits final-day 50

Test batsman Nkrumah Bonner got among the runs in the first Best v Best 4-day match, stroking an unbeaten 53 on the fourth and final day at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
West Indies are preparing for the first Test match against Pakistan, starting on August 12 at the same venue in Jamaica.

Stumps were drawn on the fourth day when Windies team two reaching 140-4 in 36.2 overs. In addition to Bonner’s fifty, Jermaine Blackwood and Kyle Mayers contributed 25 runs each in the drawn encounter. Kemar Roach, Alzaari Joseph and Roston Chase each took one wicket on the fourth day.
Earlier in the match, Windies team two, in their first innings, posted 173 all out in 71 overs. Test skipper Kraigg Brathwaite scored an unbeaten 77, while Chase made 41. Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul claimed 5-38, while Nicholson Gordon picked up 3-20 and Nial Smith took 2-32.
In reply, Windies team one, in their first innings, scored 261 all out in 87.5 overs. Vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood made 62, and Rahkeem Cornwall chipped in with 39. Chase returned with the ball to claim 2-11, Kemar Roach had 2-20, Raymon Reifer bagged 2-31, and Chemar Holder had 2-46.
In Windies team two’s second innings, a score of 333-9 in 99.2 overs was posted. Axed test batsman Shamarh Brooks scored 134, while Chase made 63. Rahkeem Cornwall impressed with 5-67 and Permaul returned with 2-69.
The final Test squad is expected to be announced in a few days’ time, as West Indies gear up for the two-match Tests series against Pakistan.
