Home Sports BFA boss impressed with young talents at Bartica Mashramani Cup
The Bartica Football Association (BFA) braved the inclement weather from 18th to 23rd February as the 2022 edition of the Bartica Mashramani Cup was hosted at the Bartica Community Centre Ground.
Now with some minor setbacks, the action will continue with Rivers View and Potaro Strikers confronting each other in the final.
In the semifinals, Rivers View defeated Lazio 5-nil and Potaro Strikers overcame AK Galaxy 1–nil. With the end of the tournament approaching, BFA President Alden Marslowe was asked his view on the games played thus far, and he said, “It is always a wonderful feeling to have football where it belongs – on the field of play. However, I caution the thought that competitive football is back, because it is not.
“We are merely trying to have some activities for our players, but we are still awaiting word from the National COVID-19 Task Force for a return to play; and when that happens, then competitive football will truly be back!” he declared.
Marslowe also noted that he is highly impressed by the many young talents that are produced in Bartica. He relayed that the BFA would need to channel that talent in the right direction.
Coming out of a long rest from the game, he said, they still put on a good show.
“I wish I could give you a calendar of activities here, but we are still hanging under the ceiling of uncertainty. We just had our clubs properly registered, and now we look to the future through a dark glass, with much expectations nevertheless. Maybe we will have a Bartica Regatta Competition on the cards” the BFA boss has posited.
Marslowe has reiterated that Bartica needs to regain its sporting activities, as it is of utmost importance that that community have a return to play as soon as possible.
He clarified that most of the resources needed for the game of football are already available via the Guyana Football Federation, and once the BFA receives the support of its corporate friends, things would be “up and running” in no time.
