BFA female uniform kits unveiled

… Marslowe confident ladies will put on a good show in Super 16

The Bartica Football Association (BFA) launched its female uniform kits (home and away) on Sunday at the Bartica Community Centre, to coincide with the girls’ football match between the Bartica Secondary School and Three Miles Secondary School.

BFA President Alden Marslowe

The kit consisting of a yellow jersey, black shorts and yellow socks has been identified as the Association’s home uniform while the away kit consists of a green jersey, red shorts, and green socks.
In the match, Bartica Secondary School, wearing the away kit, emerged victorious by way of kicks from the penalty spot, following a nil-all result at the end of regulation time.
The two kits represent the colours of all categories of the BFA teams, and were presented to the Association by the Guyana Football Federation as part of its Members Financial Assistance Programme (MFAP).
When asked his opinion on the chances of the female side in the upcoming Super 16, BFA President Alden Marslowe said, “We have identified a number of good talented players among our girls, so I am confident they will be competitive in the Super-16 matches. In terms of their preparation, the BFA is committed to the long-term development of our female players. However, systems to prepare them for the year-end tournament are being intensified and they will be ready come December 19, for their first game.”

As it pertains to the promotion of the game among females in Bartica, Marslowe related that more could always, and should always, be done for the game, including female football. He relayed that the BFA has identified a coach who would be dedicated to the development of the female players. It will also be putting plans in place to ensure they are kept active in the new year.

The BFA boss further stated that partnership with corporate Guyana was necessary for the development of the game. “While the GFF has been giving us unmatched support, we at the BFA look forward to engaging sponsors, because we can do a lot more if we work together,” Marslowe posited.
The Bartica Female Team are expected to be in action on December 19 at the Bartica Community Centre against the Wakapao Female Team in the GFF-Kashif and Shanghai Female Super-16 Tournament.
