Those were the words of Alden Marslowe, President of the Bartica Football Association, in his opening remarks at the launching of the Bartica Football Association men’s league 2022.
This activity was held at the Bartica Town Council Boardroom on May 6, 2022 at 07:00pm, and the audience included Regional Chairman Kenneth Williams; Mayor Gifford Marshall; other members of the BFA executive body; Lyndon France, BFA Technical Support Officer; Leon Stewart, Referee in Charge of the Bartica Referees Council; members and representatives of the nine clubs that will be participating in the league; and Delroy McIntyre, administrator of the Bartica Sports Direct page.
Tournament Coordinator Sherwin DaSilva and BFA Technical Support Officer Leon Stewart outlined the rules and regulations governing the league, and handed over the fixtures of the league.
Stewart mentioned how pleased he was to see the turnout of representatives from clubs that would be participating in the league, and said the Guyana Football Federation is on a path to making Guyana’s Football first class, and the responsibilities are placed on clubs locally to get the early start.
He added that punctuality is key, so he’s expecting all clubs to be on time, organised and ready for the start of the league.
Mayor Marshall expressed his gratitude at restart of football activities and how pleased he was to know Bartica is having an event such as this.
At end of the launching, the Bartica Football Association members handed out balls, bibs and cones to the representative of each team that would be playing in the league.
The league will see the following teams:
1. Rivers View FC
2. Ballers FC
3. Rising stars FC
4. Lazio Untied FC
5. Agatash United FC
6. Ak Galaxy FC

The league is set to start on May 15, and will be played at three venues: Bartica Community Center Ground, Rivers View Sports Ground and Dogg Point playfield. A total of 36 matches will be played during the period May 15 to July 02.
