The football action in Bartica was off with a bang as the Bartica Football Association commenced its Super 16 Futsal Tournament 2021. The action commenced on Sunday November 28, 2021 and will conclude on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at the Bartica Community Centre Basketball Court.
In night one of the action Almanac Kings duked it out with Wolves United, the encounter was close as both teams began an aggressive approach from ball one. In the end it was the Kings who toppled the Wolves 6-4.
Beacons B then battled Goal Raiders in a thriller that resulted in both teams ending on 3-3. Thing were then taken to a penalty shootout where Beacon B won on PK – 3-2. Rising Stars A then crushed Agatash 7-2, the Stars ensured their opponents had no room to breathe as they wasted no effort in piercing their opponents net.
In the other encounter Potaro Strikers then made light work of Mil Ballers 1-0, which was then followed by Beacon A who wasted no time in asserting their dominance as they blindsided Bad Company 8-2. The final match saw Lazio gain a walk over from Addie All Star.
In a statement President of the Bartica Football Association said, “The GFF Year end Tournaments have opened the way for some amount of football to be played, and it is great for a return to the sport for both players and fans. The opening night of futsal saw lots of talent on display. We had some thrilling matches involving both young and older players. It was well received by the fans, so it is quite evident that the sport is not dead, and everyone is just awaiting the full return to play.”
The first round will no continue with Potaro B taking on Jones Avenue, Espanola seeing off Rising Stars B and then the quarter-final round.
