BHS thrash QC; St Roses, Tutorial and PC secure wins

National School Basketball Festival…

The National School Basketball Festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals’ continued on May 6, 2016 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with five competitive and action packed games.
The Bishops’ High School, St. Rose’s High School, Tutorial High and President’s College were the latest schools to secure victories on Friday in the National School Basketball Festival at the at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
In the female action, Tutorial defeated Charlestown easily by winning 8-1, as Denique Ross with four points and Afisha Bruts (2 points) and Natisha Nurse (2 points) were the scores. Charlestown lone point came from Romona Barness.
In the other game, The Bishops’ High School (BHS disposed of arch-rivals Queens College (QC) to win 18-5. Sileena Arjune (6 points), Kesann Charles (4 points) and Jayla Jonas (4 points) were on target for the Carmichael Street side; Rebecca Persaud and Sandhya Indarjeet scored two points each for Queens College.
In the Boys under-14 segment, The Bishops’ once more got the better of Queen’s College as a combination of ten points from Timothy Richards, seven from Tyrone Singh and Duwon Younge with six, helped BHS to win 29-10. Lugard Mohan with nine points was the man on target for Queens College.
President’s College (PC) edged Marian Academy in close encounter which ended 25-24. Rakin Mc Donlad nine points and three rebounds combined with Richard Semple (seven points) lead (PC) to the slimmest margin of victory.
Corey Graham ten points and seven rebounds was exceptional in a losing cause for Marian Academy, so as was Jether Harris with nine points.
The final game saw St Rose’s High School blowing away Plaisance Secondary 24- 3.
Jaheem Barton (8points) and Shamar Bristol (five points) led the route of Plaisance while Kurt Sampson scored two points for the East Coast of Demerara school.
