chools under-18 Football Championships continued at the Ministry of Education Ground, Caifesta.

In soggy conditions due to the pouring rain, Singh netted in the 54th followed by Souvenir in the 60th to lead the Carmichael Street unit to their first win after Shemar McPherson had scored in the 12th minute.

Similarly, Masters Academy continued their masterful run as they hammered St. Roses’ High 8-1 via a hat-trick from Calvin Peters who etched his name on the score sheet in the 11th, 44th, and 62nd. Andel Smith supported with goals in the 37th and 64th while Derwyn George (28th), Randy Smart (51st) and Kareem Caines (59th) being the other marksmen; Joel Morrison 22nd was the scorer for the losers.

In the other match, North Ruimveldt Secondary went down to Buxton Youth Developers 5-0 with goals from the feet of Kifumbo Goodman (15th and 19th), Shamar Beckles (2nd), Teffrel Campbell (16th) and an own goal in the 61st.

Today, Kingstown Secondary clashes with St Mary’s from 11:00h, followed by Tucville and Charlestown from 12:30h. Former champs Lodge Secondary will then oppose East Ruimveldt from 14:00h, after which Morgan’s Learning Centre face St John’s College.

Thirty-two secondary schools across Georgetown are competing for the $500,000 first prize, while second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively, that will go towards a school project.
